Grammy-winning blues artist Yates McKendree has wrapped up his first tour showcasing his hit and #1 charting (Roots Music Report) LP "Buchanan Lane" on Qualified Records. The tour, which kicked off in April, included stops across the midwest United States. Notably, Yates and his band, led by his father, the Grammy winning musician and producer Kevin McKendree, performed at Buddy Guy’s Legends club in Chicago, among other blues venues including the Zoo Bar, Hard Rock Casino and the Red Rooster.
On April 14th, McKendree will headline the “Blues for a Cure” event in Columbus with local blues hero Sean Carney. Tickets and details HERE.
McKendree's tour featured a mix of original songs from "Buchanan Lane" as well as his skillful rearrangement of classic blues covers. The tour was met with critical acclaim, with fans and critics alike praising McKendree's powerful vocals and masterful guitar and keyboard playing.

"Buchanan Lane" is McKendree's debut studio album on the leading indie label Qualified Records. The album features a mix of 13 original songs and covers, two of which were written with notable Grammy winning songwriter - and 2022 Inductee to the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, Gary Nicolson - and has been praised worldwide by blues critics and music lovers for its exceptional blend of traditional blues music. Of McKendree, Nicolson says: “I have said Yates is proof of reincarnation, only a very old and experienced soul could make his kind of art.”
Yates and the album were nominated for a prestigious Blues Music Award for “Best Emerging Album Artist” (event in early May to announce the winner) and will be submitted for a Grammy Nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album.
